Kiki Arts Collaborative
The Kiki Arts Collaborative (KAC) is a New York City–based workforce development organization advancing economic mobility for Black, Brown, queer, and trans young adults through paid training, employer-linked placements, and culturally responsive professional development. KAC emerges from the Kiki ballroom scene — a youth-centered cultural ecosystem rooted in Black and Latinx LGBTQ+ communities that has long functioned as an informal system of mentorship, skill-building, and collective care.
KAC's programs include the Career Catalyst Fellowship, a paid six-month workforce development initiative integrating career readiness, civic leadership, and hands-on industry experience modeled after the Freedom Schools of the 1960s; and the Artist-in-Residence Program, which supports more established Kiki artists in developing and presenting new work.
In Sacred Spaces
Supported by grants from Humanities NY and Columbia’s Heyman Center for the Humanities, this 3-episode podcast mini-series invites listeners to hear from religious, spiritual, and community leaders on conversations around race, gender and sexuality, and religion.
Hear Us Loud
Hosted by Lil' Kim Juicy Couture and Yoncé Mulan, we record hour-long conversations with our Black trans and queer members of the ballroom scene to discuss their work as artists, archivists, and activists. As one of the only podcasts that gives a platform to Black trans, queer, and non-binary people as well as the ballroom scene, many of our viewers and listeners have noted that our podcast serves as a gateway to learn about the ballroom scene.
TSWRA
The South Will Rise Again (TSWRA) was a radio show co-hosted by myself and two other students at Barnard’s online radio station WBAR. The team curated a setlist of Southern Hip Hop and R&B while discussing Southern African-American history, scholarship, and pop culture and invites guests to join in the conversation.
The show was featured in the opening panel for Religion and the History of Black Music Summer Series for Columbia School of Professional Studies and spotlighted on “Notes From the Underground” on WKCR 89.9 FM.
